Tsering Wange of Bomdila, Arunachal Pradesh, North East India is a well known tourism pioneer and an adventurer (First Indian to do the World’s Highest Sky Jump)
. He has been promoting adventure tourism and adventure sports within India and abroad for the past two decades, having obtained Govt registration in the year 1995 and Tourism Department recognization in the year 2000.
He and his agency Himalayan Holidays which is headquartered at Bomdila in Arunachal Pradesh with branch offices at Itanagar, Tawang, Bhalukpong and Guwahati has handled thousands of domestic tourists and scores of foreign visitors who came from different parts of the world to visit North East India.
He is the winner of the International Tourism Award which he received in Madrid from Sir Jose Larrauz Isturiz, Director, Ministry of Industries, Tourism & Commerce, Government of Spain.
He is also the recipient of prestigious ‘Indian Travel Award 2017’
He has the distinction of being the only person who made North East India Tourism presentation in New York, London, Amsterdam & Singapore sponsored and hosted by Ministry of Tourism Govt of India. He has toured over 48 countries & regions around the world having participated in all the world’s biggest tourism fairs, festivals & conferences to promote NE India Tourism abroad. In recognization of his efforts and contributions, he was awarded National Adventure Tourism Award (Silver Medal & Citation) in New Delhi.
On 5th June 2017 Mr Wange met Prime Minister Narendra Modi in New Delhi and submitted a memorandum urging him to formulate National Policy for Mountaineering, Adventure Tourism & Adventure Sports. PM Modi has assured to look into the matter on a positive note.
He also made a submission to Her Highness The Queen of Bhutan Ashi Dorji Wangmo Wangchuck during her visit to West Kameng in Arunachal Pradesh to open up the border road between Bhutan & Arunachal for trade and tourism.
Mr Wange had earlier apprised the then Hon’ble Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh in New Delhi and submitted a memorandum for promotion & development of adventure tourism in North East India.
He is the proud recipient of Bharat Excellence Award and Jewel of India Gold Award. He also received Certificate & Citation from the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India for promoting NE India Tourism within India and abroad.
He also produced two popular travel serials on North East India tourist circuit for ‘Indian Holidays’ (Sony TV) and for ‘Wanderlust’ (DD II).
He also worked closely with Bollywood movie KOYLA staring Sharukh Khan & Madhuri Dixit which was shot in West Kameng & Tawang District in Arunachal Pradesh. Producer & Director Rakesh Roshan felicitated Mr Wange with a citation for his services in promoting film tourism.
Mr Wange was felicitated by Govt of Arunachal Pradesh, Deptt of Tourism for his long years of contribution in promotion of Arunachal Tourism in the world market.
He was also felicitated by Arunachal Pradesh Tour Operators Association (APTOA) during its IX General Conference at Pasighat in Arunachal Pradesh.
He groomed and mentored several budding adventurers and mountaineers including Anshu Jamsenpa and Nima Lama. Both the mountaineers eventually summitted several mountain peaks around the world. 5 times Mt Everest Summitter Anshu became world record holder in mountaineering & Nima also became an Everester!
